Music Theatre Futures

Australia’s first music theatre conference

Music Theatre Futures 2024 (MTF) was the first in-person conference for music theatre in Australia. The bi-annual conference aims to increase the points of connection between Australia’s music theatre research, pedagogy and industry.

A collective voice for Music Theatre

The MTF identity represents the conference objective to connect research, pedagogy and industry across the Australian music theatre industry, through the use of a modular framing device and a 3 colour linear gradient. I extended the modular framing device and three colour linear gradient across the broader MTF brand identity to create a cohesive visual system.

Applied consistently across signage on the university campus, program materials, speaker communications, and digital assets, these elements acted as connective tissue, visually linking the diverse talks, perspectives and disciplines represented throughout the conference.

A collective voice for the sector

The visual identity was built around the conference’s central purpose: connecting research, pedagogy and industry across Australian music theatre.

A modular framing device and three-colour gradient created a flexible visual system that could expand, shift and connect across every application.

Used across campus signage, program materials, speaker communications, digital content and merchandise, the system acted as a visual thread linking the conference’s many speakers, disciplines and perspectives.

A landmark gathering of Australia’s music theatre leaders

Over two days, MTF delivered a dynamic program of 20 sessions featuring 50 leading industry professionals across presentations and panel discussions to an audience of over 150 people.

The conference brought together a breadth of experience from across the sector, including Broadway Music Director Carmel Dean, Victorian Opera Artistic Director Stuart Maunder, and Tony Award winning Broadway producer Eva Price.

Together, these speakers represented the depth and diversity of contemporary music theatre practice, offering insight into creative development, production, leadership, and the evolving relationship between research, training and industry.
